Ten minutes to go and I could lock the shop’s door behind me. There were still a few customers who couldn’t decide what to buy. One lady tested all the lipsticks on the shelf. Her friend was busy with the sunglasses. They must be tourists with lots of time on their hands. I had a fake smile glued on my face as I waited behind the counter for them to make up their minds. They walked out without buying anything. Then it was ten minutes past 5:00. They wasted my time.
Sometimes I wondered if this was really what life was about. Working from 8:00am to 5:00pm, I caught just a glimpse of the sunrise on my way to work every morning. I wished I could stand on that hill and wait for the sun to rise. Going home after a day’s work wasn’t much relief. At home, a family was waiting for my attention. While preparing dinner, I put the laundry in the washing machine and took care of the pets.
