1.alternative n.可能的选择(choice)；选择对象(option) adj.供选择的；其他的
•an alternative to ……的替代物(to是介词)

•alternatively adv.可供选择地
eg. (2022·舟山模拟)Most of us are fascinated by the course because it offers an alternative to our busy school life.

【联想】　“别无选择只好做……”的其他表达形式：

2.interrupt vt. & vi.打断……讲话；打岔；暂时中断或中止
•interrupt sb/sth(with sth)(因某事)打断某人/某事
be interrupted by 被……打断/阻断
•interruption n.打扰；插嘴；打岔；阻断物
without interruption 连续地；不断地
(北京卷书面表达)To help them better understand our tea－drinking culture，I introduced the history of tea－making to them for several hours without interruption.(传统文化)
为了帮助他们更好地了解我们的饮茶文化，我连续几小时不间断地向他们介绍了泡茶的历史。
3.assume vt.假定；设想(suppose)
•assume sb/sth to be 假定/假设某人/某事为
It is generally assumed that... 普遍认为……
•assumption n.假定，假设，设想
make an assumption 认为；假定
on the assumption that... 假定……，假设……
•assuming(that)... 假定……(作状语)
eg. (浙江6月卷) A bit later, they spotted what they, too，assumed was a dog running alongside a man on a bike.
过了一会儿，他们发现了他们也认为是一只狗的东西，在和一个骑自行车的人并排跑。
【联想】　部分分词可以转化为连词，引导条件状语从句。常见的还有：supposing (＝ suppose)，providing(＝ provided)，given, considering等。
4.regardless adv.不管；不顾
•regardless of＋sth 不管；不顾；不论
•in spite of/despite＋名词＝although＋从句 尽管；不管；虽然
as regards/with regard to 关于；至于
eg. (全国卷Ⅲ书面表达)Despite the fact that it rains，we can still take part in physical activities in the stadium.　尽管下雨，我们仍然可以在体育场参加体育活动。
5.cut up 切碎；使伤心；使难受
eg. She was pretty cut up about them leaving.
他们这一走使她伤心极了。
6.significance n.意义；意思；重要性；重要意义(importance)
•the significance of... ……的重要性/意义
be of(great/no/little) significance to...
对……(很/不)重要
attach(great) significance to 认为……(很)重要
•significant adj.重要的；明显的
