1. convey vt.传达；运送；传导，传播 (deliver)；表达(express)
convey sth to sb(for...) (因……)向某人表达/传递某物
convey...from A to B 把……从A处运到B处
convey one’s feelings/thanks/appreciation to sb向某人表达某种情感/谢意/感激
eg. (2022·厦门模拟)He conveyed through her that he had a jack but that it was too small for the Jeep, so we would need something to support it.　他通过她告诉我们，他有一个千斤顶，但对于吉普车来说太小了，所以我们需要一些东西来支撑它。
2. take it easy (＝take things easy)轻松；不紧张；从容
take one’s time 别着急，慢慢来
take sth seriously 重视某事；对某事严肃对待
take...for granted 认为……理所当然
take...as... 把……当作……
take sth for granted 想当然；认为……理所当然
eg. (2019·江苏卷书面表达)Some of us take it for granted that we should wear school uniform when meeting the foreign students.
我们中的一些人想当然地认为我们在见外国学生时应该穿校服。
3.run out of用完
•run out＝give out 用完；耗尽
run out of＝use up 用完；耗尽
•run across 偶然遇到
run after 追赶；追求
run for 竞选；匆匆去取
run into 撞上；遇到；邂逅
eg. (浙江10月卷)Running out of energy and patience，Jane gave up her walking along the stream and fell to sleep.
耗尽了精力和耐心，简放弃了在小溪边散步，然后就睡着了。
【点拨】　(1)run out of 意为“用完了”，是及物动词短语，表示主动意义，主语一般是人。
(2)run out意为“……用完了”，是不及物动词短语，其主语通常是物(时间、食物、金钱等)，无被动语态。
4. be made up of由……构成
make up 构成；编造；化妆
make up for 弥补
make out 填写；辨认出；理解
be made (out) of 由……制成(从成品上可看出原材料)
be made from 由……制成(从成品上看不出原材料)
be made into 被制成/加工成
make sense 讲得通；有意义
eg. (天津卷书面表达) Our class is made up of 50 lively boys and girls, who are warm and generous and ready to offer help.(人物介绍)
我们班由50名活泼的男女学生组成，他们热情大方，乐于提供帮助。
【同义】　be composed of，consist of
【点拨】　(1)be made up of的主动形式为make up，意为“组成；构成”。
(2)consist of为主动形式表示被动的意义，不用于进行时及被动语态。
5. tease vi. & vt.取笑；招惹；戏弄
tease sb about sth因某物取笑某人
eg. (浙江卷)His classmates often tease him for being too hardworking and they call him Mr Smart.
他的同学们经常取笑他太努力了，他们称他为“聪明先生”。
6.branch v. 分开；分岔
n.枝条；支流；部门；支线；分店；分支
eg. The company’s head office is in the city, but it has branches all over the country.
公司的总部在这个城市，但它的分公司遍布全国各地。
