【知识梳理1】studied Mathematics and Physics at a university (P29)

Mathematics，名词，意为“数学”，其缩略形式为Maths。虽然词形中以s结尾，但并不是复数形式。
Surprisingly, maths was voted their favourite subject.

【知识梳理2】married a French scientist called Pierre Curie in 1895 (P29)
1895年和法国科学家皮埃尔·居里结婚
1.marry，既可以做及物动词，也可以作为不及物动词，意为“结婚；嫁；娶；与……结婚”等。
(1)marry sb 嫁给某人，与……结婚
He married the girl next door.
他与隔壁的一个年轻女子结了婚。
(2)be/get married to sb 与某人结婚
They are to be married in June.
他们计划于六月份结婚。
(3)marry sb to sb 意为“父母把女儿嫁给某人”或“为儿子娶媳妇”
Her parents married her to a doctor.
她父母把她嫁给了一个医生。
(4)marry 做不及物动词时，往往用副词或介词短语来修饰。
She married very early.
她很早就结婚了。
[注意]
(1)marry一般不与介词with连用。
(2)marry和get married 都是非延续性动词，因此不能和表示一段时间的状语连用，We have been married for 14 years.
我们已经结婚14年了。
