首先，那天吃饺子是一种****俗，所以我们会亲手做美味的饺子，而不是给他们买一些。
(2020·全国卷Ⅰ)Rather than getting caught up in how you could have done better, why not offer yourself a compassionate response?
与其纠结于怎样才能做得更好，为什么不给自己一个富有同情心的回应呢？
In my opinion, it is you rather than he that are to blame for the terrible accident.
在我看来，应该对这次可怕的事故负责的是你而不是他。
【点拨】　(1) rather than可以用作连词或介词，用作连词时，意为“不是……而是；与其……(不如)”，通常连接平行结构。rather than连接两个并列的不定式时，其后面的不定式可省略to。用作介词时，其后接动名词形式。但是如果rather than位于句首，其后的不定式通常不带to(也可用动名词)。
(2)rather than连接主语及其附属成分时，谓语动词应与rather than前面的主语在人称和数上保持一致。

be surrounded by/with... 被……包围/围绕
•surrounding adj.周围的；附近的
surroundings n.周围的事物；环境
eg. (2020·浙江7月卷)The hungry bear followed his nose to our camp ，which was surrounded by
a high wire fence.
饥饿的熊径直来到了我们的营地，营地被高高的铁丝栅栏包围着。
3.measure vi. & vt.测量；衡量；判定(evaluate) linking verb (某物的)体积(长度、数额等)为…… n.计量制；计量单位；措施 (step)
•measure...by... 用……来衡量……
be measured by/in... 用……来衡量/计算
measure sb for... 为某人量尺寸
•take measures/steps/action to do sth
采取措施做某事
make sth to sb’s measure 照某人的尺寸做某物
beyond measure 无法估量；非常多
eg. (2022·苏州模拟)Rushing into the fence，I took some measures to protect myself.
冲进栅栏，我采取了一些措施来保护自己。
【联想】　(1)measure表示“(某物的)体积(长度、数额等)为……”时是系动词，后跟测量的结果，不用于被动语态或进行时态。
(2)measure表示“措施”时常用复数形式。
4.aboard adv. & prep.在(船、飞机、火车或公共汽车)上；上(船、飞机、火车等)
go aboard (the ship/plane/train) 上(船、飞机或火车)
